New Art Laietà vintages: Lanius 2022 and Orbus 2023
At Art Laietà d’Alta Alella, we’re delighted to introduce the new vintages of Lanius and Orbus, two wines that, despite their distinct personalities, share the essence of our terroir and our commitment to quality. Both are released with a fresh design that embodies the spirit of our new identity Art Laietà.
Lanius 2022: elegance and ageing potential
The new vintage of Lanius 2022 has just been released, a wine that captures the full potential of our old Chardonnay vines growing near the sea on sandy sauló soils. After 6 months of ageing in French oak barrels, it rests for at least a year in bottle to refine its texture and complexity. The result is an elegant, silky wine, beautifully balanced between ripe white fruit and subtle toasted notes from the oak.
Awarded 94 points in the 2026 Peñín Guide, it achieved the third-highest score among all Chardonnays in Spain, confirming its place among the country’s finest white wines.
The 2022 harvest was shaped by drought and high temperatures during the growing season, leading to slightly lower yields than usual. However, modest rainfall in August allowed for excellent ripening, producing grapes with outstanding balance, ideal for wines with long ageing potential, such as Lanius.
Orbus 2023: the Mediterranean Syrah crafted only in exceptional vintages
Orbus 2023 marks the release of a new vintage of our Mediterranean Syrah. Made from a careful selection of the best grapes from our Syrah vines, it spends 14 months in French oak barrels followed by a year of bottle ageing, allowing it to develop its full character: intense, deep and balanced.
This red wine is only crafted in outstanding vintages, and 2023 was one of them –and also the earliest harvest in our winery’s history, with the first grapes picked at the end of July–. It was a dry year with irregular vine growth, though light rainfall in late August favoured the phenolic ripening of the later varieties, resulting in healthy, concentrated grapes with excellent acidity, perfect for wines with great ageing potential.
Orbus 2023 offers aromas of violets, ripe fruit, spices and balsamic notes, subtly integrated with hints of vanilla and toast from the oak. On the palate, it’s silky yet structured, with fine tannins and a long, mineral finish that speaks of its Mediterranean origins.
Both wines are released with a new design reflecting our Art Laietà identity, rooted in artisan work and origin. The elegant labels feature exclusive illustrations from our family’s modernist estate, Can Genís: the full house for Lanius 2022, and a detailed architectural motif for Orbus 2023.
