Alta Alella 10, chosen as the best cava for the second year in a row
For the second year in a row, the Peñín Guide has chosen Alta Alella 10 Gran Reserva as the best Cava within the appellation. In this edition, the two vintages of the Pujol-Busquets Family’s collection wine, 2010 and 2012, has received the best cava ratings. Two other cavas from the winery follow on the podium (95+): Alta Alella Mirgin Exeo Paraje Calificado Vallcirera 2016 and Alta Alella Mirgin Exeo Evolució+ Gran Reserva 2005. A milestone that reinforces the winery’s commitment to high-end cava and consolidates its leadership among great wines.
The Pujol-Busquets family has released to the market the new vintage of Alta Alella 10: 2012. It is a singular cava made with a “Grand Vin” philosophy, which stands out for its enormous freshness, without losing elegance and complexity. A freshness that lasts after 10 years of perseverance which, according to Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, is the sum of various factors: “the long ageing, the grape’s own characteristics, the Sauló soil where the vines grow and the unique climate of the Serra de Mar area”.
The aim, Mireia Pujol-Busquets explains, is “to escape from standardisation and create a cava that aligns with the style of the great wines of the world”. Alta Alella 10 was born following this line: a vintage, organic, collectible cava, which highlights the elegant passage of time.
Alta Alella 10 is made with a selection of the best grapes from the singular vineyard ‘Torrent Vallcirera’ –currently a qualified area for premium cava–. The whole grapes are gently pressed and the first fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels. Afterwards, the traditional method is applied with a minimum ageing period on lees of 10 years. Released on the market without any dosage, with the disgorgement date stated on its label.
