Alta Alella joins the local community network ‘Caring Village’

Alella, poble cuidador‘ (caregiver village) is a local initiative dedicated to the care and accompaniment of people suffering from loneliness and their families, either because of a chronic illness or because they are at the end of life. This caregiver network, open to the collaboration of institutions, organisations and neighbours of Alella, focuses on three basic principles: care and accompaniment, skills building, and education and awareness-raising.

The Pujol-Busquets family, from the Alta Alella and Celler de les Aus, have joined the initiative as partners, with the aim of contributing to improving and sustaining the work carried out by this network of carers in the town of Alella.

We invite you to become a member and work together for a more equal, supportive, respectful and affective society.

The magazine Selectus Wines has selected AUS Bruant amongst the bubble recommendations for all kinds of celebrations.

Xavier Ayala, a well-known Spanish sommelier who has worked at Can Roca, La Boscana or Nandu Jubany group, amongst others, highlights the work of the Pujol-Busquets family to produce transparent wines and cavas that reflect the characteristics of the terroir and the vintage as much as possible: “If there is anyone in the wine industry in Spain to whom we are indebted, I think it would have to be Josep Maria Pujols Busquets. For decades, he has been one of the pioneering oenologists in the tireless pursuit of purity in winemaking.”

This sparkling wine produced in Celler de les Aus is an organic and natural cava, 100% Pansa Blanca (xarel·lo) and elaborated without added sulfites.

Alta Alella wines selected by ABC Spanish newspaper

The Wine’s Guide 2023 issued by ABC Spanish newspaper highlighted three wines from Alta Alella amongst its recommendations of the year. Pilar Cavero, sommelier and wine critic, has tasted and reviewed two sparkling wines from Pujol-Busquets family (Alta Alella 10 2010 and Alta Alella MIRGIN EXEO Paraje Calificado Vallcirera 2016), and a white wine (Alta Alella Cau d’en Genís 2021).

Alta Alella 10 2010: “(…) Mireia and Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets have thought big to produce this complex and mature cava, vibrant and fruity, an example that long ageing is the way forward for the great Spanish sparkling wines“.

Alta Alella MIRGIN EXEO Paraje Calificado Vallcirera 2016: “(…) Elegant, full of fruit and pastry notes, it is honest and direct, fresh and gentle“.

Alta Alella Cau d’en Genís 2021: “(…) Fennel and salinity envelop an honest white wine, the result of a job well done“.

In the words of Cira López, Alta Alella 10 is “the great bet” to accompany the Christmas menu. “A cava full of nuances and personality; fresh, elegant, complex and very different from what people usually think a cava is”.

Alta Alella 10, chosen as the best cava for the second year in a row

For the second year in a row, the Peñín Guide has chosen Alta Alella 10 Gran Reserva as the best Cava within the appellation. In this edition, the two vintages of the Pujol-Busquets Family’s collection wine, 2010 and 2012, has received the best cava ratings. Two other cavas from the winery follow on the podium (95+): Alta Alella Mirgin Exeo Paraje Calificado Vallcirera 2016 and Alta Alella Mirgin Exeo Evolució+ Gran Reserva 2005. A milestone that reinforces the winery’s commitment to high-end cava and consolidates its leadership among great wines.

 The Pujol-Busquets family has released to the market the new vintage of Alta Alella 10: 2012. It is a singular cava made with a “Grand Vin” philosophy, which stands out for its enormous freshness, without losing elegance and complexity. A freshness that lasts after 10 years of perseverance which, according to Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets, is the sum of various factors: “the long ageing, the grape’s own characteristics, the Sauló soil where the vines grow and the unique climate of the Serra de Mar area”.

The aim, Mireia Pujol-Busquets explains, is “to escape from standardisation and create a cava that aligns with the style of the great wines of the world”. Alta Alella 10 was born following this line: a vintage, organic, collectible cava, which highlights the elegant passage of time. 

Alta Alella 10 is made with a selection of the best grapes from the singular vineyard ‘Torrent Vallcirera’ –currently a qualified area for premium cava–. The whole grapes are gently pressed and the first fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels. Afterwards, the traditional method is applied with a minimum ageing period on lees of 10 years. Released on the market without any dosage, with the disgorgement date stated on its label.

Alta Alella will take part in Salón Peñín de los Mejores Vinos de España (Top Wines from Spain Tasting Showroom by Peñín) presenting 4 podium cavas and other 11 wines rated 90+!

On November 28th and 29th, the Peñín Guide will once again celebrate the Salón de los Mejores Vinos de España in Madrid, the largest exhibition for quality wine held in Spain. The organization of the fair maintains its commitment to excellence by selecting only those wines that have been rated 90 points or more in the Peñín Guide 2023. Among them, there will be a wide representation of wines and cavas from the Pujol-Busquets family:
