On November 28th and 29th, the Peñín Guide will once again celebrate the Salón de los Mejores Vinos de España in Madrid, the largest exhibition for quality wine held in Spain. The organization of the fair maintains its commitment to excellence by selecting only those wines that have been rated 90 points or more in the Peñín Guide 2023. Among them, there will be a wide representation of wines and cavas from the Pujol-Busquets family:

The craft beer Mataró Barrel Aged, made with organic Mataró grape must, has won the gold medal at the Barcelona Beer Challenge 2022 international contest within the category ‘Italian Grape Ale’. It is fermented with wild grape yeast, aged in barrel for 4 months and is gluten-free.

A friendship that gives birth to organic craft beers

Alta Alella and Molta Malta’s Grape Ale project was born from the friendship between Mireia Pujol-Busquets, Alta Alella’s second generation, and Adrià Felisart, owner of Molta Malta, the first craft beer store in Mataró. Both share lifelong experiences and friendship: they were schoolmates since they were children and they studied together Biology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Sharing a love and respect for nature, they decided to create this project together. It began with the production of two Grape Ale beers in the 2019 vintage, one from Chardonnay and one from Mataró, and continued with the 2020 vintage and the release of a new product, the Grape Ale Barrel Aged from Mataró.

Alta Alella MIRGIN Rosé Gran Reserva 2018 has been awarded with a gold medal on the category ‘sparkling rosé made using the traditional method and aged for more than 24 months’ by the Barcelona Rosé International Bubbles Awards.

Mireia Pujol-Busquets received the distinction during the awards ceremony that took place on the second day of the Barcelona Wine Week.

We are proud to announce that Alta Alella has been chosen Best Winery with a wine tourism offer by the members of the Associació Catalana de Sommeliers (ACS).

First of all, we would like to thank all the sommeliers for their work towards the wine sector and especially for their role as prescribers for the wineries. In addition, we also congratulate Ton Colet, proclaimed Best Sommelier of Catalonia 2022, all the professionals awarded in other categories, and all the finalists and candidates.

Mireia Pujol-Busquets, owner of Alta Alella, received the award during the ‘Nit dels Sommeliers’ (sommeliers’ night), which took place on 14 March in Mas Marroch (from Celler de Can Roca). In her speech, Mireia recalled the difficulties we have suffered due to the pandemic over the last two years, especially in terms of wine tourism, but also remarked on our commitment to continue sharing the wine culture and the work behind our wines and cavas: “… we have taken the opportunity to reinvent ourselves. We have a good team and we are preparing many surprises for this year; among others, a new wine club that we have just launched”, she announced.
